Did any of you happen to see the interview with Teri Irwin, Steve's wife? What an incredible woman! It just broke my heart to hear how she responded when asked what she would miss most. She said that Steve taught her how to have fun. That it was okay to play in the rain and getting muddy. It was okay to let the children get dirty. It's okay to spill ice cream on your pants, etc...
Sounds like he was really able to keep things in perspective AND make a huge difference in the world around him.
I'll never forget the summer that his movie came out. Jake wanted to see it cuz we loved his show. It was thee worst movie we had seen in a long time and so we ended up just laughing hysterically at the dorky scenes. People started to stare at us, especially when the fat person's butt was stuck in the bathroom window and then they farted! Tears were streaming down our faces. I was so embarrassed cuz I just couldn't stop laughing - neither could Jake. Hilarious!! But only because it was so incredibly bad!!

I agree she did do a great job talking to Barbra Walters. I must admit though, Barbra Walters is a little annoying to watch because you know that she asks questions to get the person being interviewed to cry.
If I was interviewing his wife I would be sobbing.
He did seem to be the real thing. His wife said when she got the call about his death, she looked out the window and saw her daughter skipping and thought..."he would not wanted to have left the children." She compared his accidental death to something like running with a pencil in your hand. You just don't think it could hurt or kill you but my mom always said...don't run with scissors, knives or pencils and I don't!
I agree with you about Barbara Walters. It seems you can just see a spark of glee in her eyes when the person she is interviewing starts to cry...I didn't see the whole interview, just clips - that was hard enough to watch.
I bawled the whole way through it! I loved the Irwins and that dorky movie.
As many of you know, I lived in the same area where Terri worked, and the vet clinic I used had tons of photos of her there with all of the wildlife Safari animals. Their first full season of Croc Files even has a big segment about Oregon and Wildife Safari and all of the amazing animals in the good ol' Pacific Northwest. I feel like I've lost a good neighbor...it's really sad.
Those two were so clearly made for each other! You could just see the love they had for one another and for their children. I was so proud of Bindi for her poise and articulation at the Memorial, what a girl! And little Bob saying he wanted to fix the motorbike for his Dad to ride home from heaven.
What a special family! They are in my prayers every night.
